Death Penalty?

Hello friends,

As stated in one of my previous note, I was talking with some people about the death penalty. I told them who would have the right to kill someone for the deeds they have done. One good point was brought up, It states in the bible if a man commits murder he should be put to death. This person was basing off the law Moses received from God which goes from part of Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy. I said that is a good point but if we go into the Old Testament and the law. Alot of people should be put to death as well for just one of the law not to say how many should be put to death in respect to all. The person looked at me strange and said How? I said, " Most people do not observe the Sabbath" so by Exodus 31 they should be put to death.

My question to those who are in favor of the death penalty. Who on earth is worthy of judging someone to death. In the bible, Jesus healed the man with the bad hand. The Jews had the nerve to want to stone him because he healed the man on the Sabbath. Jesus told them who among you would not save your livestock( I forgot which one he said, I think it was sheep or cow) if it was not trapped in a pit. In simple terms. how are you going to judge me for something you don't do yourselves.

What is sad none of us upheld the law as stated in Romans 3:23. However Jesus came to be that sacrifice for us, because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Now we may have life and life more abundantly because God gave us HIS Son. Therefore if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus died for you, you shall be saved(Romans 10:9-10). Therefore your faith would maintain your salvation not your works.

But my mother was an evangelist, granny was the State Mother, and also I come from a long line of preachers and I work diligently in the church, therefore I am saved because they are?
God Forbid, because Romans 10: 9-10 states:

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Therefore you have to know Christ for yourself and not by others merit which is also what Paul had to explain to the Jews because they were going of the fact that they were seeds of Abraham, have the Law, and circumcised so they considered they were saved. (Romans Ch. 2-5). Also Titus 3:5 tells us:

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

So because Jesus died from us and faith and not our works keep us saved, therefore the Law is made Void and I can do what I want?
God Forbid, because Christ send us a guide in the form of the Holy Spirit to give us grace to carry out the Law while also sanctifying you. The purpose of the Law was to be a flashlight to sin, and to be used to show where one was wrong.

In conclusion, the death penalty should not be support because if Jesus did not die for us, the ability to be pardoned from God's death penalty would be impossible. So instead of trying to kill off people try getting them to know Christ. As Ephesians 6:12 states:
12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore Christ can fight the spirit that is in the person. (directly or through a willing vessel for the Lord)

Please do not harden your heart to these words, and may continue to bless you,
Greg "Da Spokesman" Stargell
